The scientific documentation of Local Products authenticity within the framework of the project is based on an innovative Multi-Criteria Model that combines:

  • Genetic information (DNA)

  • Isotopic ratios

  • Microbiome profile

Τhe Multi-Criteria Model was designed and developed for operational use with central elements the user-friendly application and the scientific reliability. The authenticity evaluation is based on the appropriate combination of techniques per product which allows for the identification of products characteristics, means of production and sources of origin at both botanic and geographical level.

Based on the above the authenticity of local products is determined and scientifically documented, providing specific answers to the following questions:

  • What is produced?

  • Where it was produced?

  • What specific quality characteristics it has?
